The merry boy that once resided within me has taken leave;

And in his place, stands a long, slender shadow

whose body resembles mine

And whose face is hidden behind a thick curtain.

He.. looks like me… but he doesn’t.

The silhouette stands solid;

But as I get closer, the blurrier his presence becomes.

I no longer recognize my reflection.

It’s been taken from me and replaced with a version of me

that solely inhales and exhales

with no expression on his face.

I am empty.

Please, promise that you’ll always think of me beautifully in your mind,

as I will you.

I hope that when you reminisce on us.. on me..

you’ll think of those beautiful clear blue sky days in which we laughed

and held onto each other as if we’d fall off the planet if we let go.

I hope you remember all of my little outfits that I’d throw on just for you;

And how, no matter how gray the day was,

I was always burning red.

And when you think of my face,

remember my bedroom brown eyes searching yours

and my lips holding onto your every kiss.

Think of me young, naive, innocent and forever effervescent in your mind

because I will always think of you that way in mine.

Forever beautiful and forever mine.

    "The One" is a story that I find is hard to tell time and time again but never one that I shy away from. To put it simply, it's about heartbreak; but in a much more thorough explanation, it's about that moment you made a choice and whether you were aware of it or not, it was the wrong choice that led to years of salt streams pouring into your ears and robbers taking the only thing that's yours- your identity. This a single look out of the whole that was inspired by the one that I held closest to me. It was innocent  at first but later became my biggest affliction.

     "The One" is one of my rawest pieces that truly visualize the war zone that was my mind.
